Mehmet Sait Demiröz served as a judge in different provinces of the country and was most recently a member of the Supreme Court. Demiröz was detained on 18 July 2016 and arrested on 21 July 2016. After being detained in Ankara Sincan Prison for 85 days, he was sent to Konya Ereğli T Type Prison. Demiröz, who stayed in his cell for 40 months in Konya prison, was hospitalized in October 2019 when he fell into a diabetic coma. Demiröz, who had no disease before entering the prison, was diagnosed with diabetes, heart and lung diseases in prison. He had lung surgery and was later sent back to prison. After unlawful trials, he was sentenced to 13 years and 6 months in prison and released on the grounds of his ‘illnesses’. Demiröz, who was sent to Ödemiş Prison on 6 April 2022 because his sentence was approved, relapsed because his treatment was delayed. Before Eid al-Adha, he went to the infirmary 3 times due to his increasing illness, but was sent back each time, saying that he had “nothing”. Demiröz, who was taken to the hospital after his condition worsened, remained in the intensive care unit for a week. During this time, he was not allowed to meet with his family. Mehmet Sait Demiröz, who was subjected to various tortures by the unlawful decisions of his colleagues, passed away on July 22, 2022.
